McClain, 79, of Thurman will be Wednesday at 2p.m. at Belford-O'Neill Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Gross, pastor of Holy Family Catholic Church, officiating. Mr. McClain died Feb. 2 at his home. He was born Nov. 19, 1921, in Marne to Walter and Josie (Reynolds)McClain. He lived in Wyoming and Council Bluffs before moving to Thurman13 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a maintenance mechanic for Griffin Pipe, worked for Hoff Oil Service in Wyoming, for Hercules Manufacturing in Stark, Fla., and was a truck driver for Bennett and White and Wilson Trucking. He retired in1979. He had been a deputy marshal in Natrona Co., Wyoming, and was a constable in Lewis Township. He was a member of the Catholic Church and was a life member of Grenville M. Dodge Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 737. He served as adjutant of District No. 7 in 1981-82 and as District No. 7 judge advocate in 1982-83. He was a member of the Military Order of Cooties, Big Chief 5, and served as its chaplain . He was a member of Danish Lodge No. 10 and served as national aide-de-camp 1982. Mr. McClain and his wife, Grace, were married Nov. 8, 1947. Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Collette McClain of Thurman, Judy Kenny of Lavonia, Mich., and Sherry Buncher of San Diego; a son, Danny Sr., of Athens, Tex. ; two sisters, Idaleen Callis of Hope Sound, Fla., and Shirley N. J .C. Christensen of Council Bluffs; three brothers, Marvin of Durham, N. C., Merle of Albion, Neb., and Claude Sr. of Mexico ; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A wake service and Military Order of Cooties service will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by visitation with the family until 8:30.
