Description	:	Wesley Earl Barry 04/02/1917-11/07/2008 Wesley Barry was born in Jackson, California to James and Marguerite Gebhardt Barry. Both pioneer families of Amador and Calaveras counties. Wesley graduated from Nevada City High School, Placer Junior College (now Sierra College) and University of Nevada Reno. He worked in the mines of Nevada County from 1933 until1942. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was a surveyor for Bell Telephone from 1946 to 1952. When he obtained a degree in Civil Engineering he was project engineer and superintendent for projects that included construction of sections of Interstates 80 and 5, and Highway 99. He worked for Placer County Department of Public Works the last ten years before his retirement. After retirement he and his wife, Maxine, traveled the world. Wesley was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Maxine Ammon, brother, Beverly Joseph Barry, sisters, Myrtle Josephine Johnson, Marguerite Jacobs and a grandson, Scott Meisenbach. He leaves a son, James Barry and wife, Carol, of Colfax; daughters, Carmel Barry-Schweyer and husband, Phil, of Auburn; and Maxine M. Barry and husband, David Harnish, of Bowling Green, Ohio; brothers, Ben Barry of Nevada City, Tom Barry of Half Moon Bay, and sister, Jimzy Day of Escalon, grandchildren, Shannon Gillett- Moore of Colfax; Jim Meisenbach of Roseville, Marie Barry-Cruz of Minden, Nevada; Max Barry of Roseville, Malini Ammon-Mulolli of Auburn; Colin Harnish of Greensboro, North Carolina and Gabrielle Harnish of Paris, France; Kristin Matthews of Sacramento and seven great grandchildren. He will be interred in the Ammon-Kelley family plot at Old Auburn Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday. Contributions in his name can be made to your favorite charity. He was 91. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, to celebrate his life. He was buried in the Ammon-Kelley family plot in the Old Auburn Cemetery. Mr. Barry, who worked in the Nevada County mines during the Great Depression, later did pioneering surveying work for Bell Telephones and was a project engineer and superintendent on a number of major highway projects for A.
