Description	:	Wilford Riley Porter was born at Lousville, Illinois, September 16, 1861, and passed away August 14, 1936, at his home in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 25 days. He moved with his uncle to Pawnee City, Nebraska, in the year of 1885. On February 2, 1898, he was united in marriage to Miss Aley Mae Richardson at Lewiston, Nebraska. To this union six children were born: O.P. Porter, Mrs. Marie Troudt, and Mrs. Nina Mae Bruce of Nelson; Mrs. Velmae McKevitt of Superior; Raymond of Nelson; and Freda Ann who passed away in... Read More	Wilford Riley Porter was born at Lousville, Illinois, September 16, 1861, and passed away August 14, 1936, at his home in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 25 days. He moved with his uncle to Pawnee City, Nebraska, in the year of 1885. On February 2, 1898, he was united in marriage to Miss Aley Mae Richardson at Lewiston, Nebraska. To this union six children were born: O.P. Porter, Mrs. Marie Troudt, and Mrs. Nina Mae Bruce of Nelson; Mrs. Velmae McKevitt of Superior; Raymond of Nelson; and Freda Ann who passed away in 1907 at the age of one year. The family resided in Pawnee county (sic) until the spring of 1909 when they moved to Nelson, Nebraska. The following spring they moved to a farm west of town from where, due to failing health he retired to the home in Nelson, in 1932. On January 25, 1925, he united with the Presbyterian church (sic) of Nelson and remained a faithful member until death. He was a devoted husband and a kind and loving father, Even in his failing health he was patient and thoughtful of those about him, always ready and willing to do his share in any undertaking that would be of help to the community or to the family. Besides the wife and children he leaves one brother, S.L. Porter of Nelson, and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Johnston of Nelson, and Mrs. Etta McCully of Louisville, Illinois; seven grand children, and a host of friends to mourn his passing. Sleep on beloved, sleep, and take thy rest; We love the well, but Jesus loves thee best. Good Night! Until the shadows from this earth are cast, Until he gathers in His sheaves at last, Until the twilight gloom is overpassed, Good Night! Until we meet again before His throne, Clothes in the spotless robe He gives His own, Until we know even as we are known, Good Night! Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church (sic) Sunday afternoon at 2:30 oclock (sic), conducted by the pastor, John Caldwell, and interment was in the Nelson cemetery (sic).
