He was born June 28, 1892, in Jackson County, the son of Sylvester and Parthenia Spiker Butler and lived in the Topeka area most of his life. Mr. Butler was retired from the Topeka Fire Department. He was an Army veteran of World War I. He was married to Pearl Trimble in 1921. She died in 1962. He was married to Faye Baker in 1971. She died May 20, 1979. Survivors include five nieces, Mrs. Gertrude Mossman, 1501 Collins, Mrs. Zetta Stoddard, in California, Mrs. Reva Aston, San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Arlene Myrick, Topeka, and Mrs. Eurnie Enochs, Tecumseh; and four nephews, R.V. McDowell, 617 Roosevelt, Clarence McDowell, Manhattan, Kyle McDowell, Onaga, and Louie McDowell, Tecumseh. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by Philip Billard Post No. 1650 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
