Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 30, at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in his memory. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa. William Harold Franz was born August 13, 1930, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of William E. and Hilda L. (Feekin) Franz. His family moved to Council Bluffs in 1939. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953 during the Korean War. He married Beverly Ann Hoff on June 5, 1954 in Council Bluffs. Together they worked for 30 years in the bowling business, first for Brunswick Corporation, 1965 to 1981, then as owners of Regal Lanes in Council Bluffs from 1981, until retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, BPAA, national and state level. He was inducted in the Council Bluffs Bowling Hall of Fame in 1996 and was past president of Junior Bowling Association. Surviving are his wife, Beverly; one daughter, Paula Radik of Council Bluffs; two sons, Mark (Vicki) Franz and Joseph Franz, both of Council Bluffs; six grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Gina Coe-Franz; one sister, Eleanor Goldin of Omaha, NE; and several nieces and nephews.
