Description	:	Wm. S. Ross was born on October 5th, 1863 in Albert Lea, Minn., and died at Volga on December 14, 1943 in his 81st year. He was a son of BF and Hannah Jane Ross. He was baptized in his early childhood in the Baptist church, and received his education in the Albert Lea public school. He came to South Dakota in 1880 at the age of 17. Ross was born on October 5th, 1863 in Albert Lea, Minn., and died at Volga on December 14, 1943 in his 81st year. He was a son of BF and Hannah Jane Ross. He was baptized in his early childhood in the Baptist church, and received his education in the Albert Lea public school. He came to South Dakota in 1880 at the age of 17. In 1889 he homesteaded at Stransten, Indian territory in the northeastern part of the state north of Watertown. Here he lived until 1898 and where he married Miss Bertha W. Breed in 1896, and where two of their children, Herbert (in 1897) and Harvey (in 1898) were born. In 1898 he and his family came to the Estelline community and lived for a number of years on the farm southeast of Estelline. From there they moved to the W.J. Thompson farm southwest of Estelline where they lived for thirty seven years until his health failed and he retired from farming. Other surviving children were Vera (born in 1900), Mildred (born in 1905), and Rubye (born in 1909).
