Pfeifer Heit, 82, Topeka, died Tuesday, June 17, 1994 at a Topeka hospital. Mrs. Heit worked in the Topeka Police Station for 20 years before she retired in 1975. She was born June 3, 1912 in Pfiefier, Russia, the daughter of Peter and Maria Breit Pfeifer. She came to the United States with her parents when she was 5 months old and lived in Topeka most of her life. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, St. Anthony's Guild, and the Altar Society at the church. She was a member of the Ladies of Columbus and a member of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. She was married to Joseph J. Heit on Nov. 26, 1936 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include three sons, James J. Heit and Francis A. Heit, both of Topeka, and Bernard D. Heit, Overland Park; a daughter, Mary Ann Heit, Topeka; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Heit will lie in state from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and at 6:15 p.m., and Altar Society rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., and a Ladies of Columbus rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to St. Francis Hospital for the Nurses Continuing Education Fund. Topeka Capital-Journal, 6/9/1994
