Her maiden name was Bertha Marie Wilhelmine Blietz, and she was born in Read township, Clayton county, Iowa, December 16, 1885. In infancy she was baptized in St. Paul's Lutheran church at Garnavillo and later became a communicant member of the same. In 1908 she was married to William Kruse. They first lived in Grand Meadow township, then near Bethel in Post township, and later moved to Franklin, township, north of Luana, where they have since resided. She leaves to mourn, her husband, and stepson, LeRoy, of Luana; her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Blietz, of Garnavillo; one brother, Ben Blietz of Marcus, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. L.H. Tuecke of Guttenberg and Elizabeth at home with her parents. Also three grandchildren, three nephews and three nieces. At the time of her departure Mrs. Kruse was aged 46 years and 24 days. She was a loving wife, faithful mother, and an esteemed neighbor and friend. The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city at two o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. R. B. Garten officiating. Interment was made in the Postville cemetery.
