Description	:	WESTFIELD, Iowa—Bessie Buryanek, 97, of Westfield, died Monday, March 9, 1992, at the Akron Care Center after a brief illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Westfield Congregational Church, with the Rev. Marty Healy officiating. Burial will be in the Westfield Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 7-8 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. Mrs. Buryanek was born Sept. 13, 1894, in Krc, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Vojtech "Albert" and Veronika (Kucera) Kohout. She came to the United States at the age of 19. She lived in Chicago until her marriage to Adolph Buryanek Jan. 29, 1920, in Chicago. The couple farmed east of Westfield until 1944, when they retired and moved to Westfield. He died in 1944. She was a cook in the Westfield School system for many years. She had made her home with her son, Leonard and his family for many years. In 1990 she became a resident of the Akron Care Center. Mrs. Buryanek was a member of Westfield Congregational Church and Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Tuesday Club. Survivors include six daughters and their husbands, Vera and Don Diediker of Laurel, Neb., Mildred and Clyde Wetrosky of Pequet Lakes, Minn., Helen and Adam Tindall of Akron, Betty and Robert Philips of Augusta, Wis., Mary and Arnold Bollhoefer of Haverhill, Iowa, and Marlis and Frank Asprey of West Sacramento, Calif.; three sons and their wives, Leonard and Tess and James and Delores, all of Westfield, and Frank and Ann of Hawarden; 39 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Mrs. Betty Zales of Florida and Mrs. Emily Petry of California.
