Jack was born December 2, 1931, in Topeka, the eldest son of Casper and Catherine Gartner Meier. He married Darlene Miles on April 13, 1953, in Topeka. Meier, 84, Topeka, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. Jack was born December 2, 1931, in Topeka, the eldest son of Casper and Catherine Gartner Meier. He married Darlene Miles on April 13, 1953, in Topeka. Having grown up with eight siblings and working on the family farm, Jack valued his family and an honest day’s work. Jack was an owner of Meier’s Rapid Dump Trucking and later co-founded the Meier’s Ready Mix operation from which he retired. When Jack was not working, he enjoyed a good polka with his wife, car races, travel and playing a good hand of cards. Jack has a wit and charm that allowed him to quickly make any stranger a friend which served him well in both business and retirement. Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years, Darlene; children, Larry Meier (Patty) of Topeka, Deborah Fisher (Steve) of Topeka; three grandchildren, Melissa Johnson (Shawn) of Topeka, Justin Fisher (Katie) of Silver Lake, Chad Fisher (Kristin) of Topeka; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Kay Baker, Gene Meier (Deloris), Ruth Gillgannon (Jerry), Betty Kanicki, George Meier (Sharon), Vince Meier (Lana), Joan Howell (Byron). He was preceded in death by his sister, Delores Christenson (Melvin); brothers-in-law, Dave Baker, Eddie Kanicki. Parish rosary will be 5:30 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2016, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614, with visitation following until 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 227 SW Van Buren Street, Topeka KS 66603. Burial to follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
