Westcott died at his home, 906 St. Paul street, Baltimore, on Friday afternoon after a lingering illness of heart disease, aged 63 years. His remains were brought to Chestertown on Monday and after a funeral service at Emmanuel P. E. Church, were interred in St. Paul's cemetery. The deceased was the son of the late George B. Westcott, a large property owner and banker of this county. He was born in Chestertown and received his academic education at Washington College, later taking a business course. He subsequently attended the law school of Columbia University, New York City, from which he graduated and took up the practice of his profession in his home town. He was affiliated with the Republican party and was its recognized leader in Kent County for many years. He served as president of the Board of Town Commissioners for several terms, and in 1895 was elected State Senator. At the expiration of his term as Senator, Mr. Westcott became interested in various enterprises in Baltimore to such an extent that he removed his residence to that city. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Mary Jones Guion, of Newbern, N.C. He also leaves two sons, Capt. Charles T. Westcott, Jr., of the United States Marine Corps, now stationed at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, and John G. Westcott, of Kent county , and three daughters, Misses Anna Marie and Ferebe G. Westcott, of Baltimore, and Mrs. Russell Willson, of Washington. Mr. Westcott was a life-long member of the Protestant Episcopal Church and until his removal from Chestertown was a vestryman of Emmanuel Church from which sanctuary his funeral was held on Monday at noon. The services were conducted by Rev. Henry Evan Cotton, D.D., rector of Emmanuel Church, Baltimore, assisted by Rev. Henry B. Martin, D. D., rector of the local church. The honorary pall bearers were all the directors and officials of the Chestertown Bank of Maryland, the active bearers being Messrs. George B. Westcott, Alday Clements, Edwin S. Valliant, W. W. Hubbard, James W. Chapman, Jr., and Malcolm [Westcott] Hill, the last two being from Baltimore city. Undertaker, Charles L. Dodd. Source: "Kent News," Saturday, December 23, 1911.
