Read More	Cora Durbin, youngest child of Joshua and Almira Carr Durbin, was born August 18, 1884 on the old Durbin homestead south of Emerson and passed away January 31, 1970 at the Nishna Cottage Rest Home where she had resided for the past six and one half years. She had reached the age of 85 years. As a very small girl, she was given the name Pet, a term of endearment and ti was by this name she was known to her family and friends throughout her entire life. She attended the old Forrester School during her early days and later graduated from Emerson High School. She received her degree from the University of Nebraska in 1908. She joined the Asbury Methodist Church near Emerson as a young girl, and later the Malvern Methodist Church, following the move to Malvern with her mother and sister in 1902. Here she was an active member until ill health prevented her attendance. Cora was united in marriage to Rolland L. Hale, November 13, 1918, in the family home in Malvern and it was in this home they resided until his death in 1963. Mrs. Hale was a devoted wife and homemaker and was known for the beautiful manner in which she maintained her home. Although childless, she loved children and in later years she received great joy and pleasure from the young children in the family. They in turn loved her dearly. Mrs. Hale loved flowers and spent many hours in her beautiful flower garden. She gained much pleasure in sharing her bouquets with friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her several brothers and sisters. She is survived by nephews, William D. Baer, Malvern, J. Frank Durbin, Emerson; nieces, Mrs. Leo Hoefer, Omaha, Mrs. Paul T. Walton, Salt Lake City, their families and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Mansfield Funeral Home Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m., the Rev. Clarence Woollard, officiant. Casket bearers were Dr. J. R. Beckwith, Frederic Newell, C. J. Noffsinger, F. A. Wortman, Lentz Powles and Robert Campbell. Mrs. Fred Robinson was at the registry book. Mrs. J. A. Kline was organist and played Still, Still With Thee, and accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Edel Knight, as she sang Lead Kindly Light. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Shook Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Noffsinger. Interment was in the Malvern cemetery. Malvern Leader, February 5, 1970, page 10
