Bud was born May 7, 1924, in Bloomingdale, OH, in the same house he resided in until his death. He was the son of Stanton and Marie (Frazier) Hervey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Virginia (Smith) Hervey, and a sister, Janet (Hervey) Boyd. Surviving are a son, Thomas (Marrae) Hervey of Hopedale, a daughter, Micki (Richard) Cline of Unionport; three grandchildren, Shawn (Tonia) Hervey, Stacy (Tom) Schaffer, and Rachel (Rob) Bodo, three step grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and five step great- grandchildren. He is also survived by friend and companion of over 20 years, Betty Louk. Bud was the last living Hervey in Bloomingdale, has had Hervey's since before Ohio was a state. He served his country in World War II in the Pacific Theater as an Army sargent. He came home to Bloomingdale and worked as a heavy equipment operator working out of International Union of Operating Engineers No. 132 it was said he could pick up a toothpick with his backhoe bucket. He belonged to Unionport F&AM No. 333, Valley of Steubenville Scottish Rite, Aladdin Shrine, Steel Valley Car Club and Wintersville Post 571. Bud enjoyed sports of all kinds, he was an excellent football, basketball and baseball player at Wayne High School. He was a noted area starter at Race Tracks throughout the valley most notably at Debo in Rayland. He was an avid booster of Wayne, Wintersville and Indian Creek High Schools. He never missed a game of his children or grandchildren. He served as an usher for Ohio State Football for his beloved Buckeyes for 30 years. But most of all he was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend. He was always there when you needed him and will leave a deep void for those he touched. Friends may call at DunlopeShorac Funeral Home, Wintersville on Wednesday 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Hubert Granger and Rev. R. J. Leek officiating. Burial at Bloomingdale Cemetery where Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will perform military honors. Masonic service Wednesday 6 p.m. Offer condolences at www.shorac.com.
