Description	:	Dean Darst Dean (Shorty) Darst, 73, of Ridgeville Corners, O., formerly of Toledo and retired manager of the A&E Rental Center store on Lewis Avenue, died Monday in a Napoleon, O. nursing home. He retired from the rental firm in 1971. He formerly lived on the 4600 block of Violet Road. Surviving are his wife, Frieda, and son, William. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Zion Lutheran Church, Ridgeville Corners. The body is in the Wesche Mortuary, Napoleon. Toledo Blade January 11, 1978. He bought a WW II surplus airplane... He bought a WW II surplus airplane after the war. It was an open air red color PT 19 pilot training airplane. It was initially parked at the Wauseon, Ohio airport. Later he parked it at various empty fields near his relatives house in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio. Some of us had our first airplane ride in his airplane. One of the local boys became so interested in flying he purchased an airport near Montpelier, Ohio in later years and performed community services out of this airport.
