Description	:	The Creighton News 2 Feb 1939: "D.W. Mallory, father of Mrs. Hubert Bartlett, resident of Norfolk for nearly twenty years, died at his home in that city last Saturday morning. He was nearly 90 years of age and had been ill for several weeks. Mr. Mallory is survived by five sons and five daughters and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Bartlett was with her father the last three weeks of his illness. She, with her husband attended the funeral services, which were held Monday at Norfolk. Interment was made at Tilden." The Norfolk Daily News - Norfolk, Madison County, Nebraska - January 28, 1939: "D.W. Mallory, 313 North Eighth Street, resident of Norfolk for nearly twenty years, died early Saturday morning at 4:26 o'clock at his home after an illness of several weeks. Although nearly 90 years of age, Mr. Mallory had enjoyed good health until a year or so ago when his eye sight began to fail. Born Aug. 20, 1850, in Ohio, Mr. Mallory went west as a young man to prospect in Wyoming and Colorado, but returned to Kansas before 1876, where he later met and married Mrs. Mallory, Jan. 2, 1879. They celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary this month. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Mallory made their home on a farm near Concordia, Kan., where they lived for several years before locating on a farm near Madison. They also spent several years at Battle Creek before coming to Norfolk. Besides his wife, Mr. Mallory is survived by five sons, Charles Mallory, Sturgis, S.D., Ed at Plainview, Elmer, Moundville, Mo., J.D. of Niobrara, and Ira of Norfolk, and four daughters, Mrs. Minnie Bartlett, Creighton, Mrs. Edith Freeman, Verdigre, Mrs. Frank Carruth, Laramie, Wyo., and Mrs. Eva Bennett, Casper, Wyo. Mr. Mallory is also survived by a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held here Monday at 1 o'clock at the Thenhaus-Howser chapel and at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist Episcopal Church at Tilden where interment will also be made. The body will lie in state Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 o'clock at the Thenhaus-Howser chapel."
