A daughter of Joe and Mary (Bauer) Langel, she was born in Carroll. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Templeton in 1954. She and Donald Schettler were married for 44 years and Mrs. Schettler lived in Council Bluffs for 26 years. Mrs. Schettler worked at the First National Bank of Council Bluffs and retired in 1996. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and Alter Society. Survivors include her husband, Donald Schettler, of Council Bluffs; two daughters, Nancy Payne and her husband, Mike, of Jefferson and Patti Bendgen and her husband, Bob, of Council Bluffs; two sons, Ron Schettler and his wife, Stacy, of Council Bluffs and Dan Schettler of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Yvonne Broich and her husband, Tom, and Berneta Broich and her husband, Clayton, all of Carroll; two brothers, La Vern Langel and his wife, Louetta, of Templeton and Elmer Langel and his wife, Imelda, of Aspinwall.
