In her illness Mrs. Schulenberg was a patient sufferer and was given the best of medical attention. The death of Mr. Schulenberg removes a life-long resident from this community. As Elise Fredericka Katharine Kroeger, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Kroeger, she was born on the farm north of Hooper on March 6, 1884, and thus had attained the age of 46 years, 2 months and 21 days. She received her early education in the rural school in that district and was a confirmed member of St. Johns Lutheran church and of which she was always a faithful attendant as long as her health would permit. On February 10, 1904, she was united in marriage to Herman F. Havekost who passed away May 30, 1909. To this union were born three children, all now living. After his death she moved to Hooper to make her home with her mother, and after ten years residence in town moved onto a place 2« miles northwest of Hooper. Her marriage to Carl Schulenberg occurred on February 22, 1923, and since then had lived on a farm. This spring they moved to town and her last days were spent here. Mrs. Schulenberg was a woman well liked by all who knew her, a devoted wife and a loving mother. By her passing she will be greatly missed by her family and by her many friends. Close surviving relatives are the husband and three children, Melvin and Lawrence Havekost and Mr. Fred Johannsen all of this place and vicinity. She is also survived by two grandchildren and by three brothers and two sisters, Herman Kroeger of Denver, Colo., and Fred and Harry Kroeger, Mrs. Chris Schulenberg and Mrs. G. F. Rabe of this locality. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon with services at one o'clock at the home in this city and at 1:45 from the St. Johns Lutheran church northwest of Hooper, the pastor, Rev. Theo. Norden conducting them. Interment will be made in the church cemetery.
