Died at Glasco, Kansas, April 30, 1908, aged 83 years, 7 months and 29 days. At the age of 22 years she was united in marriage to Wm. Jordan, on June 15, 1846, and for twenty-five years they made their home in the land of her birth. There were ten children born to them, two of whom died in childhood. In the spring of '71 they, with their eight children, broke the ties which bound them to their native land, and, with many others, set out for the prairies of the great West, there to face the perils and hardships of pioneer days. They settled four miles northeast of Glasco, where they continued to live until death claimed the companion of fifty-eight years. Three years ago last October Grandma Jordan was stricken with paralysis, from which she never fully recovered. Through these years of affliction she was patient and cheerful, even to the hour of her death. She was cared for during these years by her daughter, Miss Anna, who was able assisted for about three years by Mrs. Sarah Abrams, niece to the deceased, and for whose kind and tender ministrations the children all feel very grateful. Before coming to Kansas Mrs. Jordan was a member of the M.E. church, but she never united with any church here. However, "By their fruits ye shall know them," and many a pillow has been softened and many pains eased by her timely and kind ministrations. She leaves two brothers, two sisters, eight children -- five daughters and three sons -- twenty-three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Christian church on Saturday, May 2, at 10 a.m., conducted by the pastor. Thus death has claimed another of the old settlers and neighbors. One by one they are passing. Be ye, also ready, for in an hour that ye think not, the summons comes. Sons and daughters of Mrs. E.W. Jordan GLASCO HAS LOST ANOTHER PIONEER From Topeka Capital of May 6. Glasco, May 5. -- Glasco has lost another old settler in the death of Mrs. E.W. Jordan, who was interred in the Glasco cemetery Saturday. She, with her husband and family, came to Glasco in '71, and moved in with the family of Jacob Frankforther, a quarter of a mile south of town. The house was only a small, two-room affair, but the sixteen members of the two families succeeded in getting along therein until the Jordans had erected a living place on the homestead, four miles northeast of Glasco. Mrs. Jordan was 83 years, 7 months and 29 days old, and during the entire time of her residence here she was regarded as an ideal mother and homekeeper and an excellent neighbor. Her children and grandchildren are among the most prosperous and respected citizens of this section.
