He was born July 19, 1914, in Miltonvale, to George and Gertrude Meyers Gibbs. He moved to Topeka in 1947. Mr. Gibbs worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 32 years before he retired in 1975. He was born July 19, 1914, in Miltonvale, to George and Gertrude Meyers Gibbs. He moved to Topeka in 1947. Mr. Gibbs was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks. He also served in the shore patrol with the Navy from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. He married Josephine Urban on June 2, 1956, in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Mark Alan Gibbs, Topeka; a daughter, Debra Ann Hortenstine, Carbondale; a sister, Bonnie Chanley, Monroe City, Ind.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Gibbs will lie in state after 4 p.m. Monday at the church, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Stormont-Vail Hospice, 2252 S.W. 10th, Topeka, 66604; or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 333 N.E.
