Description	:	Frances was the 5th child (4th daughter) of William and Joanna Rogers Clement, born in Lenawee County, Michigan where the Clements lived until the early 1850's when they migrated to Wisconsin. Frances never married and lived with her parents or siblings until her parents' deaths in 1885 and 1886. Read More	Frances was the 5th child (4th daughter) of William and Joanna Rogers Clement, born in Lenawee County, Michigan where the Clements lived until the early 1850's when they migrated to Wisconsin. Frances never married and lived with her parents or siblings until her parents' deaths in 1885 and 1886. I don't know for certain yet where she lived from that time until 1900 when I found her working as a servant for the Rebor family in Hiawatha, Kansas where the Clement family settled by 1870. (Daniel Rebor was a "farmer and attorney" per the 1900 Census and he and his wife Ellen had 4 children.) In 1910 Frances was still working as a servant but in the home of Lewis & Lillian Rodgers. As I have often found, Frances aged only 5 years since 1900! I could not find Frances in the 1920 Census. However, I did find her in the 1925 Kansas Census and she was among the 23 "inmates" of the Brown County Poor Farm. This was a shock as her parents' will stipulated their assets were to fund Frances' support after their deaths. Her age is given as 74 (should be 76). She is among the older residents but only 2 were younger than 50 per ages recorded on the Kansas Census. No other information is provided. The last Census I found Frances in was the 1930. She is still (or again) at the County Poor Farm. She reports herself (or is reported by the superintendent) as age 76 but really is about 80 years old. When I could not find Frances in the 1940 Census, I suspected she had died given her age in 1930. But I found no death record or information online, nor could I find her in Find A Grave. Since I'm planning a visit to the Brown County Genealogy Society this Spring, I decided to call them to ask if they could check their cemetery books for Frances. Sure enough, they had a record of Frances' death and burial. I was told she is buried next to her parents in Hiawatha Cemetery. The Genealogist at the Brown County Genealogy Society said they had a large amount of information on the Clement family. I will be reviewing this when I visit their location and updating their memorials. I am happy to have located Frances' burial and that she is with her parents. I suspect she suffered from some kind of disability as it was obvious reading her mother's will that they made every effort to provide for her support after their deaths. Frances is a distant cousin.
