To William Brew on 29 July 1876 in Brown County, Kansas. I don't believe Louisa had any children with William. William was a widower who had at least one child by his first wife (Mary Robb), Eliza Jane "Lyda" (born ~1871, Kansas). Louisa and Martin Edwards had separated by the time of the 1870 Census as Louisa was Head of Household with her 3 children in the town of Glen Haven, Grant County, Wisconsin. Martin Edwards is still alive and also remarries, so it appears they separated sometime between late 1865 and 1870. Later in 1870 Louisa apparently joined her parents in their move, by covered wagon, to Brown County, Kansas. The year is documented in the obituary of her younger sister, Mary. Louisa is still listed as Head of Household in the 1875 Kansas State Census in Hiawatha, Brown County, Kansas, where she and her 2 younger children are living with 2 of her younger sisters (Frances and Marian (later went by "Nettie") and her youngest brother (John). I suspect they are living at the house on 6th & Pottawatomie but unsure as their parents appear earlier in the Census which suggests they lived in a separate residence. The 1880 Census, however, is where Louisa is found re-married to William Brew, a native of the Isle of Man (island between Great Britain and Ireland). Louisa and William are both recorded as age 38. Living with them are his daughter, Eliza Jane "Lyda", 9, born KS, and 3 of Louisa's children by Martin Edwards: John, 17; George, 15; and Ada, 13. William is a farmer. Without an 1890 Census it is difficult to know when Louisa and William made their "move West", but the 1891 Los Angeles (California) City Directory records them living at 1413 Main Street. The following year William appears in the California Voter Registration for Orange County, the county to the south of Los Angeles. He also appears in the 1894 California Voter Registration, but William died in Nov. 1893, so the 1894 record has obviously not been updated to delete his name. But Louisa does appear in the 1895 Los Angles City Directory as the "widow of William Brew" with an address of 126 Center. This was the last record I could find for Louisa thru online resources. She's only 54 years old so I wondered if she had remarried but could find no such marriage record. Finally, by traveling to Brown County, Kansas in April 2017 I found the record I had been seeking: a burial notice documented in a binder of Brown County Newspapers 1896 - 1899 which read: "BREW: Mrs. William Brew, sister of William Clement and Mrs James Dunn, was buried Thursday". This notice was from The Brown County World newspaper on 17 April 1896, p. 33. I am making the assumption she was buried 1 day after her death as that seemed to be the timeframe for this era. I have to admit I don't know for certain Louisa died in Brown County, Kansas, but I suspect she did. Since it seemed she was still in California in 1895, I suspect she knew she was ill and returned to her Kansas home to be with siblings who remained in the area. The alternative of course is that she may have died in Los Angeles and someone arranged for her body to be shipped to Kansas for burial, but I think this is somewhat less likely given her husband had already died and she had no family in California. It has been a long journey to piece Louisa's life together and to confirm she is indeed my 2X Great Grandmother.
