(Bargen) Duey, Nelson, Nebraska Harry F. Engel, 76, Topeka, died Tuesday, March 4, at a Topeka hospital. He was a brother of Ruth Korb, Superior. Engel farmed in the Topeka area many years and was a city mail carrier for several years before he retired. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was born March 6, 1909, at Burr Oak, the son of John and Laura Swoveland Engle (sic). Engel was a charter member of the World War II Glider Pilots Association and a life member of Philip Billard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post N. 1650, Topeka. He had served on the Soil Conservation service board of directors and was a member of the National Letter Carriers Association. He was married to Edna Bodding Jan. 23, 1930, at Burr Oak. She survives. A son, Rex Alan Engel, died June 12, 1982. Other survivors include a daughter, Sandra Dexter, Topeka; three sisters, Ferne Rake and Dorothy Rettig, Topeka, and Ruth Korb, Superior; a brother, LaVerne Engel, Topeka; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Services were at 11 a.m., Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
