Howard served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the US Mississippi. He was a member of Queen of Apostles Church and served his church as a longtime volunteer and Eucharistic Minister administering to hospital and nursing home patients. Survivors include wife, Mary; son, Tom "Fugi" and wife, Jackie, of Thornton, Colo.; daughter, Mary Pat Wearne and husband, Jim; sons, Jamie and wife, Paige, all of Council Bluffs, son, John and wife, Lynda, of Urbana, Ill.; daughter, Peggy Gibler and husband, Tim, of Council Bluffs; son, Bill and wife, Lori, of Kalona, Iowa; daughter Jean Witte and husband, Ted, of Rosemont, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 5 great granddaughters; sisters, Beverly King and husband, Marvin, Frances Beck and husband, Harold, all of Council Bluffs, Dolores Muzzarelli of Omaha, Neb., Rita Minor of Longbeach, N.Y. Wake service Friday 6:00 p.m. followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. at Cutler- O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at Queen Apostles Church, Father Dan Kirby celebrant. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites tendered by American Legion Post 2. Luncheon to follow at church. Memorials to Micah House and American Lung Association. Daily Nonpareil (Council Bluffs, IA) - May 3, 2007
