Shortly after rising last Saturday morning and sitting near the stove, he spoke to Mrs. Rogers and said he was fainting and before he could be placed on a cot near by, he was almost helpless, and shortly afterwards, he passed away. Heart failure was the cause of his death. The news spread quickly over the neighborhood and was soon telegraphed to the children and grandchildren. Shortly after the death of Mrs. Jesse Rogers some six or seven weeks ago, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Rogers closed their home in Glasco and went to live with Jesse to help him in the care of his home. Isaac Rogers was born Oct. 11, 1843, near Anderson, Indiana. He died at Glasco Dec. 3, 1921, aged 78 years, 1 month and 22 days. He was married to Mary E. Hackleman Oct. 3, 1864. To this union ten children were born. The living are as follows: Mrs. Etta Doty of Delphos, Mrs. Nora Ott of Gypsum, Mrs. Della Ohde of St. Paul, Minn.; Charley Rogers of Spokane, Wash.; John Rogers of Salina, Orin Rogers of Glasco; Labon Rogers of Glasco and Jesse Rogers, also of Glasco. The children who have preceded the father in death are: Elizabeth, who died Feb. 12, 1895 and Albert Rogers who died May 10, 1904. In February 1883 the family moved to Glasco and settled on a farm north of Glasco where the children have grown to manhood and womanhood. Seven years ago, on Oct. 3, 1914, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding. At this gathering all the children with their families were present except the son who lives in Spokane. In the spring of 1916 Mr. and Mrs. Rogers moved to Glasco and they have made their home there until this fall. Brother Rogers united with the M.E.Church in the year of 1888. He was a faithful attendant and supported (it) until his death. Funeral services were held in the M.E. Church, Monday afternoon, December 5th, conducted by the Rev. F.N. Stelson. The body was laid to rest in the Glasco Cemetery. The neighborhood feels the loss of this genial, kind spirited man. He was a good neighbor and worthy citizen. Issac Rogers was born October 11, 1843, near Anderson, Indiana to Zorobabel and Mary Ann Moss Rogers. On October 3, 1863, he married Mary Ann Hackleman. They had ten children: Etta Doty, Nora Ott, Della Ohde, Charley, John, Oren, Laban, Jesse, Elizabeth, and Albert. Elizabeth and Albert preceded him in death. Elizabeth died on Feb. 12, 1895, due to epilepsy. Albert died on May 10, 1904, in Oregon due to an accident when he tried to hop a train and fell. The train ran over him cutting his legs off. In 1883 Issac, Mary Ann and their children road the train from Indiana to Solomon, KS. From Solomon they took their horses and wagons and headed west. They settled south of Glasco, KS in a Catholic Community. The men could always get work helping others as they had exceptionally good work horses but the women did not treat Mary very well. Mary was not happy so Isaac bought land two miles north and 1/2 mile east of Glasco. It was late fall and they needed shelter for the winter. They built one room with a room upstairs. Everyone slept on the floor upstairs that winter. Later they added a kitchen on the east side and two rooms, a living room and a bedroom, on the south with two bedrooms upstairs. As time went on there was a large barn, grainary, chicken house, out house, and smoke house built. They butchered their hogs and hung the hams in the smoke house to smoke, and rubbed them with salt and salt peter to keep them from spoiling. They made their lard by cooking the fat in a large round kettle over an outside fire. Isaac and Oren used a lard press and a sausage grinder to make the lard and sausage. In 1888 Isaac joined the Glasco Methodist Church. He attended and supported the church faithfully. On October 3, 1913, Isaac and Mary Ann celebrated their fiftieth anniversary. All of their children except Charley of Spokane, Washington, were there to celebrate with their parents. In the spring of 1916, Isaac and Mary moved to Glasco where they made their home until 1921. In the fall of 1921, they closed their home in Glasco and went to live with their son, Jesse, five miles northeast of Glasco. Jesse's wife had passed away and Isaac and Mary planned to help Jesse take care of his home and family. However, in December Isaac passed away of heart failure. Isaac's funeral service was held in the Methodist Church in Glasco, KS. Rev. F.N. Nelson conducted the service. Isaac is buried in the Glasco Cemetery. He was remembered as a gentle, kind spirited man, a good neighbor and a worthy citizen.
