Description	:	James Valentine was born August 27, 1866, in Clear Creek Township, Fairfield County, Ohio, the son of Noah and Sarah Avis Valentine. He was married twice, the first time to Isadore D. Ellis, daughter of Joseph A. and Elizabeth Grubb Ellis. They were the parents of one daughter, Huldah E. Valentine. Isadore passed way in 1898, and on August 30, 1902, in Fairfield County, he married 2nd to Biddie Ellen Boystel, daughter of Cloyd and Sarah H. Whiteside Boystel. From the Lancaster Daily Eagle of August 23, 1927: "Celebrated 25th Wedding Anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. James Valentine of south of Amanda delightfully celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary Sunday at their home. At the noon hour, a delicious dinner was served at which covers were placed for forty guests. A pleasant social afternoon was enjoyed and the happy couple received a number of lovely gifts in honor of the occasion." James Valentine, 73, a resident of the Drinkle community, died Monday at 1:45 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Merle Smith, Ashville. He had been at the Smith home for the last three weeks. Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Smith; and the following other children, Mrs. Eugene Doud, Lancaster; Miss Lena May, at home; Mrs. Hulda Duvall, Lancaster; Noah and Carl, Lancaster; a brother, Martin of Columbus, and a sister, Mrs. Wayne McLaughlin of Circleville. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Crites and Van Cleve Funeral Home, Amanda, the Rev. S. N. Root officiating, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Stoutsville. Friends may view the body at the funeral home after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday."
