Description	:	Jerry G. Leggett age 92 of Perrysville died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at his home. Born April 9, 1919 in Perry Twp, Carroll Co. he was a son of the late Frank and Nannie Davis Leggett. His late grandparents, Glenn and Mansfield Leggett were a special part of his life growing up and he worked on their farm. Born April 9, 1919 in Perry Twp, Carroll Co. he was a son of the late Frank and Nannie Davis Leggett. His late grandparents, Glenn and Mansfield Leggett were a special part of his life growing up and he worked on their farm. He graduated from Perrysville High in 1937 and took a carpenter job with Brice Tripp. He and Brice built the house he was able to reside in until his death. Next he drove bulk milk truck at Spahn's Dairy in Steubenville, saving enough money to start his own bulk milk hauling business which he ran for around 35 years retiring in 1989. He was also a sexton at the Perrysville Cemetery. He and his wife, Mildred also owned and operated Mil-Jer Farms where they raised Black Angus cattle. Jerry was a lifelong member of the Perrysville United Methodist Church and the last living charter member of the Dining Fork Ruritans. During his 50 years in the club he had served as a past president, secretary and treasurer. He was also a former member of the Perrysville VFD, Cattleman's Assoc. and Farm Bureau. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Butterfield Leggett whom he married Feb. 14, 1946; a daughter, Connie Leggett who currently resides at home; a son, Vance (Sandy) Leggett of Perrysville; grandchildren, Julie Leggett and Michael (Miranda) Leggett; sisters, Phyllis Carpenter, Wilda Rice and Velma (Bob) Smalley of Coshocton, Jean Newton of Sun City, Ariz. and June Baker of Massillon; and a brother, Bill Leggett of Toronto. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Leggett. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Perrysville United Methodist Church with Rev. Henry Mooney officiating. Burial will follow in Perrysville Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Koch Funeral Home, Scio and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
