The lived 4½ miles northwest of town on a farm which they owned. Neither of the brothers was married. They are survived by their parents, Mr. Mrs. Shannon of rural Hiawatha, a sister, Mrs. John M. McClellan of Prescott, Arkansas; a brother, Lt. Leon Shannon, Jr., of Biloxi, Mississippi. There are also three nieces, all children of Mr. Mrs. Leon Shannon, Jr. Double funeral services will be held for the brothers at First Methodist church at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning, October 28, by the Rev. Hobart Hildyard. Interment will be at the Mt. Hope cemetery. National Guardsmen here will attend the bodies. —The Hiawatha Daily World (Hiawatha, KS) Mon Oct 26, 1959, p.1.
