Shannon, 72, of Hiawatha, died suddenly Monday afternoon, August 24, 1981, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital where she had been a patient since August 7. She was born March 6, 1909 near Powhattan, the daughter of Charles and Martha Mueseler Brockhoff and had lived in the Hiawatha community all of her life. The last 13 years, she had lived in Hiawatha. Mrs. Shannon was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hiawatha. Survivors include a son, Leon Shannon, Jr., of Santa Maria, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. John (Dawn) McLeland of Prescott, Ark., a brother, Carl Brockhoff of Willis, a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Rowland of Van Nuys, Calif., eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sons, Jerry L. Shannon and Eldon B. Shannon. Funeral services will be held at the Casselman-Meek Funeral Home, at 10 a.m. Thursday morning, August 27. Interment will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha. —The Hiawatha Daily World (Hiawatha, KS) Tue. Aug 25, 1981, p.1.
