Mr. Means was former mayor of Ozawkie and served on the Ozawkie City Council. He was born Aug. 29, 1903, at Faucett, MO, the son of Archie and Florence Reynolds Means. He moved to a farm south of Valley Falls in 1916, attended school in the Blue Mound community south of Valley Falls, then attended Valley Falls High School. He lived in Ozawkie since 1968. Mr. Means was past master and treasurer of Mount Pleasant Grange No. 1445, and a member of Jefferson County Pomona Grange, the Ozawkie Mens' Club and the United Methodist Church, all at Ozawkie. He was a member of the Kansas State Grange and had been a member of the school board at Rock Creek. He was married to Mae Armstead April 24, 1923, at St. Joseph, MO. She survives. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Florece Wofford, Ozawkie. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Ozawkie. Burial will be in Valley Falls Cemetery. Mr. Means will lie in state after 7 p.m. today at Nellis-Hagge Funeral Home, Valley Falls, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
