Description	:	Joseph Pajl, 79 of Winner passed quietly away at 6:40 pm on July 5, 2006 at his home. Joseph Pajl was born November 5, 1926 on the homestead farm in Curlew Township near Witten, SD to Anton and Josephine (Warejcka) Pajl. He attended Eden #9 Country School with horse and buggy. Joe attended Witten and Winner High Schools where he graduated in 1944. While going to Winner High School he worked in the Shaheen Shoe Store. Joseph Pajl was born November 5, 1926 on the homestead farm in Curlew Township near Witten, SD to Anton and Josephine (Warejcka) Pajl. He attended Eden #9 Country School with horse and buggy. Joe attended Witten and Winner High Schools where he graduated in 1944. While going to Winner High School he worked in the Shaheen Shoe Store. Joe worked with his father on the family ranch and cattle operation. Joe married Dona (Graham) Vavra on May 13, 1957 in Pierre, SD. They lived on the homestead farm until 1964 and then moved to Winner. Joe worked for Wilson Trucking and the Co-op where he became manager of the fertilizer department. The couple stayed in Winner after his retirement from the Co-op in 1989. Joe and Dona spent the next ten years R-Ving and wintering in Texas and Arizona, while keeping their roots in Winner every summer. They have four children: Karen, Janet, James and Randy plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joe was a very good and loving husband, father and grandfather. His mind was sharp until his death. Joe had fought Multiple Myeloma Cancer for four years. This last May, he and his lovely wife, Dona, celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. He will always leave a warm loving spot in the hearts of all that knew him. Joe loved his wife, children and grandchildren very much. He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, camping and could grill a very tasty steak. He was a member of the Winner United Methodist Church and served on various boards an as an usher over the years. He was also a member of the Winner Lions Club & ZCBJ Czech Lodge. He is survived by the following family members. His wife, Dona of Winner; Children: Karen (Dennis) Burdick of Rapid City; Janet Whittaker of Tucson, Arizona; James (Martha) Pajl of Yankton; Randy Pajl of Winner; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; Sisters: Lydia (Maurice) Earl of Winner; Elsie Pajl of Winner; Mildred Grover of LaCrescenta, California; Sister-in-law, Marlene Pajl of Winner; many nieces, nephews and friends He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Tony, Milo and Edward. He will be remembered as a man of honesty and integrity. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at the Methodist Church in Winner. Burial will be in the Winner Cemetery. Arrangements by Mason Funeral Home.
