D. Rev. E. C. Barton, former Loup City pastor had charge of the services and burial was in the family plot in Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers were: Floyd Timson, Homer Carpenter, Maynard Norseen, Roy Wooden, Glen Thomazin and Bernard Zwink. Keith Wesley Thomazin, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Thomazin, was born December 4, 1920 at Ceresco, Nebr. He was christened in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church there and at the age of one year, moved to Sherman county with his parents. He attended the Loup City schools and was enrolled at the Civil Conservation Camp at Halsey for some time. For the past year he had been employed near Dallas, S. D. He is survived by his father and mother; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Paige and LaVerna Thomazin and one brother, Duane, all of Loup City, besides many relatives and friends. ----------------- 1941 December 11, Thursday, "The Gregory Times-Advocate", Gregory, South Dakota [digital image supplied by newspaper 9 January 2009]: Accident Fatal to Keith Thomazin; Struck by Car Early Sunday Morning on Highway South of Dallas -- Remains Taken to Loup City, Nebr., for Burial Keith Thomazin, age 21, who for the past year or more had been employed at the Tom Laprath farm southwest of Dallas, met a tragic death early Sunday morning when he was struck by an auto on the south slope of the Schweigert hill, about five miles south of Dallas. Thomazin had been to a dance in Burke with Emanuel Berg, Harry Sinkular, Joe Preslicka and his sister, Elsie. Thomazin had left his car in Gregory. Returning from Burke, Thomazin suggested the party drive to the dance at Paxton. He started out in his car and the others in Berg's car soon followed. Those in the Berg car saw no signs of the Thomazin car until they came up over the hill south of the Schweigert place. As they came over the hill, the Thomazin car was parked rather near the center of the road, and Thomazin was evidently chasing his hat down the road. After the accident it was found that both windows of his car were down. In getting out he had left his car door open. Berg, who was driving the other car, attempted to go around Thomazin, but the remaining roadway was too narrow, and the right fender of the Berg car struck Thomazin tossing his body into the ditch. Berg backed his car up to avoid another accident should a car come over the hill. By this time three boys, George McKinney, Jack Driscoll and Junior Pechota, from Colome, came along. They helped get the body into their car and accompanied by Preslicka and his sister, the body was brought to the Gregory hospital. From all indications Thomazin met instant death. James Thomazin, the father, and his sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Page, arrived Sunday afternoon from Loup City, Nebr., and accompanied the remains to his former home where funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon. The sudden death of this young man was a severe shock to his friends and relatives, as he was highly respected by those who knew him. Those attending the funeral from Dallas were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Laprath.
