" I know I cannot live and am satisfied to leave this word, for I know that all will be well." These were the words that Lucy Elva Guess spoke to comfort her loved ones. A few hours later she, so weary with the long weeks of suffering from the delirium and thirst of typhoid fever, peacefully fell asleep and when she awoke she was at Home, where is no more sorrow, pain or death. Lucy was a member of the Christian Church at Mount Olive and a member of the Epworth League and Sunday school. she was a Christian girl, and she spoke by her gentle, patient, hopeful spirit. Lucy's attendance at church was most regular and her life was earnest and beautiful. Her character was pure, sympathetic and strong where in duty called; and her amiable disposition and many attractive qualities endeared her to all the community. Her favorite hymn was "Jesus promised me a home over there." Today while we were singing that hymn the sweet voice that had so often sang it was silent. Although our tears fall fast and our hearts are aching as we take up the broken threads of life again, we rejoice to known that our dear friend is safe in that Heavenly home, waiting for the loved ones who miss her so. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Davidson, and the large attendance showed how highly she was respected and loved. Her life, lake an unforgotten melody or the fragrance of a rose, will abide with her dear ones until in the home above they meet where death is unknown. GRACE A. JOHNSON.
