She was united in marriage to Augustus Ott at Glasco, Kansas, September 18, 1881, Rev. Newton Bracken officiating. To this peaceful and happy union of thirty years, six children were born, four girls and two boys -- the eldest daughter passing away when a babe of twenty-two months. The remaining children are as follows: Mattie B., Roy H., Eva P., Homer M., and Lucy M.; thus a husband and five children are called to mourn the loss of a cheerful companion and a devoted mother. Since young girlhood, deceased has ever been of a religious disposition and for many years was a member of the Presbyterian church, finally uniting with the Church of Christ of the Christian Scientists at Beloit, Kansas in 1904. The home life of Mrs. Ott was a model of conjugal love, filial affection and motherly devotion. The spirit of an ideal wife and mother has stamped its image and breathed its life into the sacred domain of home. Here is where the first thoughts are cradled, the first words spoken, the first lessons learned; here is found the joy of childhood, the strength of youth and the comfort of declining years. The brightest flowers bud and blossom in the family garden, the sweetest incense rises from the family alter, and here, the rarest jewels sparkle in the sunlight that gilds and gladdens the gateway; and if there is one member of a happy home more entitled to the crown of life than another, that one is mother. Appropriate services were held from the family residence Sunday afternoon at four o'clock, where myriads of flowers, sweet and silent tokens of love and friendship were nicely displayed and where many friends took their final leave of all that was mortal, after which the body was conveyed to the station, thence to Glasco where services were again held after which a long and mournful procession followed the remains to their final rest in Glasco cemetery.
