The intersection where their farm was located was called "Watters Cross Roads" because all four corners were occupied by Roberta's grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Read More	"Bertha" Dickey was the only daughter of Dr. Robert & Laura Dickey. She spent her first 15 years surrounded by Watters family members. Her father was a popular physician in the Fallston and Pleasantville areas. 1880 Federal Census, Watters Cross Roads, Harford County, MD: Roberta Dickey, 10, at home, lives with her parents and 2 brothers, attended school within the past year- probably the earliest Youth's Benefit School located on Rte 152 between Pleasantville Road and Upper Cross Roads. In 1882, Roberta and her family moved to Atchison, KS, where they would spend the rest of their lives. She remained single and never lived apart from her family. Roberta and her brother Jesse spent their final years in the Atchison County Hospital (Almshouse) after the deaths of their parents. Their older brother, Alex, had moved to Colorado in the early 1900's, but seems to have disappeared after moving away from the family. She died on Jan. 2, 1953. Her obituary stated: Miss Bertha Dickey, 73, died at 11:30 o'clock Friday night at the Atchison hospital. She had been a patient at the hospital since Dec. 30. For the past 15 years Miss Dickey was a resident of the Atchison county home. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Stanton chapel, the Rev L. A. Indlecoffer officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon cemetery. Miss Dickey was a daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert Dickey. Her father was county coroner for many years.
