He graduated from Omaha Tech in 1948 and attended Lutheran Bible Institute, January 1949. He was with the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1953. Marlin was born Oct. 2, 1928 in Omaha, to Paul and Luella Thorson. He graduated from Omaha Tech in 1948 and attended Lutheran Bible Institute, January 1949. He was with the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1953. February 16, 1957, he and Margery Ellen (Hoyle) Thorson were united in marriage at the First Presbyterian Church, Missouri Valley. They lived in Omaha for 21 years, until they were relocated in 1978 to Tulsa, Okla., due to Marlin's job with Northern Natural Gas. Marlin was a member of the Oklahoma Cornhusker Club. Marlin was preceded in death by his wife, Margery E. (Hoyle) Thorson; father, Paul E. Thorson; and mother, E. Luella Thorson; brother, Loren Thorson; sister, Gloria Grant; as well as grandparents, aunts and uncles. Survivors include: his sons, Mike Thorson, Tulsa, Okla.; and Phil Thorson, Pearland, Tex.; daughter, Lorena Hoyle, Huntington Beach, Calif.; his three granddaughters, Taylor, Haley and Christy; brother, Dwayne Thorson, Smethport, Pa.; sister, Elaine Swenson and her husband, Dean, Chisago City, Minn.; brother, Dean Thorson, Omaha; nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He will be remembered best for his love of Nebraska Football. Funeral Services were Saturday, May 3.
