The Wentzville Union Newspaper – October 8, 1926 We are sorry to report the death of Mrs. James Oney who passed away at 2:25 o’clock Tuesday morning at her home here, after an illness of several months, the result of two paralytic strokes. Mrs. Oney, formerly Miss Mary Hunsel, the daughter of the late Frank and Nancy Keys Hunsel of Gilmore, was born December 30, 1878 at Dardenne, Missouri. Her early life was spent in this vicinity and at Flint Hill, Missouri. On February 27, 1897 she was united in marriage to James Oney. To this union ten children were born, namely, Marybelle, Victoria, Nellie, Sam, Virginia, David, Laura, Glenn, Dorothy and Robert. Victoria and Nellie died in early childhood, Marybelle (Mrs. George Amptmann) in June 1922 and Virginia (Mrs. Edward Morman) in July, 1924. Mrs. Oney was a faithful worker and member of the M. E. Church all of her married life. She was tenderly nursed during her illness by her family and her cousin, Miss Alva Mobley, who did all that was possible to do but to no avail. Besides her husband and six children she is survived by one grandson Carl Morman, three sisters Mrs Ed Ross of near town, Mrs Evo Schmucker and Mrs Ferd. Schulte of Gilmore, three brothers John Hunsel of Gilmore, James Hunsel of near town, and Paul of St. Louis and a son-in-law and daughter-in-law and other relatives. Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian Church Thursday afternoon at two o’clock with Rev. E. W. Reynolds the Methodist pastor of Warrenton in charge. Interment was made in Linn Cemetery. Our sympathy is extended to those who grieve at the loss of a loved wife, mother, and sister.
