Description	:	Maude was the third daugther of James Striker & Clara Belle Maple Striker. She was born 6 January 1875 according the the Jefferson County, Ohio birth records. Her birth was originally recorded as 6 January 1874 by the county recorder, but was later corrected after it was discovered that her Jan birth was recorded after the December 1874 births; a common mistake of writing the old year after it changes to a new year. Also, her birth date on her death certificate is incorrect, her son Wallace Palmer reported it as 26 January 1877; wrong day and year. Her death certificate is considered a secondary source of information for her birth. The primary source of information regarding her birth would be her birth record. The following Bio information was researched and submitted by Richard Paul Culler of Carrollton, Ohio: Her obituary from the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, April 13, 1950: Mrs. Maude Palmer, 73, of RD 1, Amsterdam, died at 3 a.m. Monday in Mercy Hospital in Canton from burns she suffered last Thursday. Mrs. Palmer was burned while removing ashes from a stove and hot coals fell on her apron igniting her clothes. Her husband, David M. Palmer, was ill and in bed. She was member of the Amsterdam Presbyterian Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Wilma Warner and Mrs. Clara Gotschall of RD 1, Amsterdam; Mrs. Elva Bake of RD 2, Bloomingdale and Mrs. Melvina Johnston of Richmond; two sons, Wallace Palmer of RD 1, Amsterdam, and Wilson of RD 3, Carrollton; one half sister, Mrs. Mae Groves of Louisville; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Allmon Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. R. W. Shepherd and Rev. R. R. Metheney officiating. Burial was in Harlem Springs Cemetery.
