Mary Gebbers, Pioneer, Passes Away At 91 Years; Services Monday Mary Gebbers passed away at the McKinlely Memorial Nursing Home Friday evening, January 15, 1965, after a long illness. She was born, at York, Nebraska, April 24th, 1874, where she grew to young womanhood. She was married to Charles Gebbers July 7th, 1892, at York. In 1906 the Gebbers moved to Washington with their four children, coming by seam boat from Wenatchee to Pateros, where they joined Mrs. Gebbers' mother and brothers, George and Carl. The Gebbers located four miles from Pateros at Alta Lake, where they became neighbors of the Otto family. They later lived in the Methow and the Starr Orchard. In 1919 they moved to Pateros, Mr. Gebbers preceded Mrs. Gebbers in death in 1963. Mrs. Gebbers was a member of the Pateros Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Maude Hass of Weston, Oregon; a son, John, of Brewster and a daughter, Pearl Underwood, of Bridgeport. A daughter Jessie preceded her in death. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Carl of Tacoma and Rubin of Spokane. Funeral services were conducted Monday by Francis Adams and Rev. McConnell of Pateros, at the Methodist church. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Clark Copple. Interment followed at the Pateros Cemtery. Pall bearers were her five grandsons, Robert, Charlie and Johnny Manicke of Pateros, Danny Gebbers of Brewster and Jimmy Haas of Weston, Oregon, and a great nephew, Jimmy Lovaas of Pateros.
