Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pocahontas. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers were Kenneth Zeman, Marvin Zeman, Cleo Flaherty, Emanuel Kraska, Henry Hotovec and Daryl Hotovec. Mary Hotovec was born in Webster County and came with her parents at an early age to a farm near Ware. She married Wesley Hronek Oct. 24, 1916 at Pocahontas. They made their home on a farm near Pocahontas until retirement in the early 1940’s. Mr. Hronek died Dec. 26, 1971. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Irene Drobney of Pocahontas and Mrs. Pete (Evelyn) Groff of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, Jerome Hronek of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Val (Spike) Hronek of Pocahontas; three brothers, Frank and Jerry Hotovec of Pocahontas and Joe Hotovec of Havelock; two sisters, Sister Alonzo of Joliet, Ill. and Mrs. Charles Zeman (Agnes) of Rolfe; 12 grandchildren and three great-granchildren.
