Farver The wedding of Miss Mary Frances Redding, daughter of Mrs. Irene Redding, to Oliver L. Farver of Cozad, son of Mrs. Mary Farver of Nelson, was solemnized at 2:30 o'clock, Jan. 4 at First Christian church (sic). Rev. Lowell Bryant performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with baskets of peach gladioli. Miss Catherine Cooley sang accompanied by Mrs. Melbourne Johnsen. The tapers were lighted by Mrs. Lloyd Redding, sister-in-law of the bride. Given in marriage by her brother, the bride wore a gown of white satin fashioned with a high scalloped neckline. The bodice and skirt were softly pleated above and below the waist on each side of a narrow panel which extended the full length of the gown, broken only by a girdle traced with beads. The skirt was narrow ending in a short train. Her fingertip circular veil fell from a tiara of satin traced with seed pearls. She carried an arm bouquet of white roses. Mrs. Ruby Hannah, attending her sister as matron of honor, wore a gown of pastel blue rayon jersey with a matching headdress. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations. The bridesmaids were Miss Ruth Hetherington and Miss Bernice Itzen who wore identical gowns of dusty rose taffeta. Each wore headbands and mitts of matching net and carried bouquets of white carnations. Lynne Hannah, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Burton Lamb of Cozad was best man. The ushers were Dale Darnell and Harlan Jensen of Cozad A reception was held in the church parlors. Miss Lola Hetherington was in charge of the gift table. For their wedding trip to Excelsior Springs, Mo., the bride chose a dark green suit of wool gabardine, a matching hat, and brown accessories, with a sautern (sic) muskrat coat. Mr. and Mrs. Farver are residing in Cozad. ======================== Oliver Leroy Farver, the son of Otto and Mary (Baker) Farver, was born on September 26, 1921 in Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away on February 18, 2013 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital at the age of 91 years, 4 months, 23 days. Pete graduated from Nelson High School in 1939. He was inducted into the United States Army on June 29, 1942 and was honorably discharged on November 5, 1945. He served overseas in France, Germany, Austria and Italy, earning three battle stars and the good conduct medal. He was united in marriage to Mary Frances Redding on January 4, 1948 in Lincoln, Nebraska. They made their home in Cozad, Nebraska where Pete was a Superintendent at Continental Grain; upon his retirement they moved to Nelson, Nebraska where Pete was raised. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in both Cozad and Nelson. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and reminiscing. He loved horses and early in life he farmed with them. Together Pete and Frances would always go see the Sandhill Cranes near Grand Island. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances on January 13, 1999; four brothers Earl, Ora, Jess and Elbert and two sisters Margaret Reed and Opal Stahl. He is survived by his nieces and nephews and many friends. Services at: Nelson Community United Church of Christ, Nelson, Nebraska Time of Service: Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm Clergy: Rev.
