Mrs. Pearl Chambers, 42, of New Castle, Pa., former resident of Kilgore, died from injuries sustained in an automobile collision 8 miles west of Wellington Tuesday morning at 7:30 o'clock. Mrs. Chambers, her husband and son, Robert, 8, were enroute to Detroit, Michigan. The accident occurred when their machine collided with a car being towed by another machine traveling in the opposite direction. Reports received here were to the effect that the second car swerved into the center of the highway at the moment Mr. Chambers attempted to pass around it. Mrs. Chambers suffered a crushed side and leg and arm fractures and died within thirty minutes after the accident. Mr. Chambers and the child received only minor cuts and bruises. They were taken to a clinic at Wellington and later to a hospital in New Castle. Mrs. Chambers died on the way to the hospital. The other driver was injured also. Mrs. Chambers was born at Kilgore and was a daughter of Nelson E. Slates of Loudon Twp. She was married 18 years ago to Emmett Chambers of Scio and since 1929 they made their home in New Castle. Besides her father and husband, she is survived by two children, Lois, 17, and Robert, 8, of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Patterson, of East Sparta, and Mrs. Dora Chase of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and two brothers, Thomas and Robert Slates, of Kilgore. Her mother preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist Episcopal Church at Kilgore. Burial will be made in the Perrysville Cemetery.
