She was born in Pennsylvania August 13, 1836, and moved to Frankfort, Indiana when five years of age. In 1854 she was married to Capt. H.C. Snyder. With five other families they came to this locality in 1967. Glasco had not yet been founded. The Indians were still largely in possession of the country and the Snyder family with the other White settlers were frequently driven back to Solomon, where a stockade was maintained and where the government kept a detachment of troops. She is the last survivor of that colony of pioneers. Mrs. Snyder was held in high regard by all who knew her and she had a wide acquaintance. Five children survive -- Mrs. Jos. Martin, Mrs. C.H. Pilcher, Mrs. C.N. Franks all of this vicinity, U.G. Snyder of Kansas City, Kansas, and L.C. Snyder of Delta, Utah. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. VanLeer. The family desires to thank their friends for the kindness shown during the sickness and death of their mother.
