Her obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, January 25, 1912. Rachel A. Jackman, who was born April 28, 1842, in Lee Township, died January 19, in her home near Amsterdam. She suffered a stroke of paralysis, never regaining consciousness. She was a daughter of Able and Sarah Wiggins, being the oldest of a family of four daughters and a son. Of this family two survive: Mrs. Alex Fawcett, of Maysville, Missouri and George W. Wiggins, of Lee Twp. The deceased was married August 29, 1863, to John Jackman, and to this union were born nine children, three of whom survive: Miller J. Jackman, of Wattsville; E. R. Jackman, of Rose Twp., and Mrs. Mary Scarlott, of Amsterdam. The father, one daughter and five sons are dead. She was a member of the United Brethren church of Harlem Springs, uniting in early childhood. She was a devout christian, a beloved and an affectionate mother and a kind neighbor. The funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at Harlem Springs by Rev. Mr. Huston, of Amsterdam. Father, Abel Wiggins, 22377112, mother Sarah (Shepherd) Wiggins, 83777724.
