She was born June 17, 1921, in Catherine, the daughter of Jacob P. and Catherine "Katie" Mader Younger. Mrs. Desch owned and operated Gage Tavern in the 1950s and later Desch Retail Liquors. Mrs. Desch was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Spalding Club. She married Leonard J. Desch on May 29, 1943, in Topeka. He survives. Miller, Linwood; three brothers, Bernard Younger, Hays, John Younger and Tom Younger, both of Victoria; three sisters, Lucille Miller, Topeka, Sister Pat Younger, New York City, and Nadine Pedersen, Parker, Colo.; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Desch will lie in state after 1 p.m. Thursday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Spalding Club rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Topeka Presbyterian Manor, 4712 S.W. 6th, Topeka, 66606.
