His obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, January 1, 2009. Robert Jackson Gallon, 91, of Harlem Springs passed away Dec. 26, 2008, in Carroll Healthcare Center. Born Jan. 9, 1917, in Carroll County, he was a son of the late William Henry and Clara Mae (Brown) Gallon. He was a truck driver, truck mechanic and auto mechanic. He was a member of Harsh United Methodist Church, a former Vet's Club member and was an Army veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife, the former Valaria Wood whom he married June 1, 1941; two sons, Robert William (Ellen) Gallon of Phoenix, AZ. and John Aaron (Jewel) Gallon, of Carrollton; a sister, Georgia Knox of Carrollton; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother who died in infancy and three sisters. Funeral services were held Dec. 30 in Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home in Carrollton with Pastor Bill Grubbs officiating. Burial followed in Harlem Springs Cemetery with full military honors by VFW, DAV and American Legion.
