Mr. Corder was born Jan. 5, 1919, in Surry County, a son of the late Grady Corder and the late Cora Wilmoth Corder. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II. He was an aircraft repairman and overhauler with the Civil Service in Cherry Point, and retired after 28 years of service. Roger Gray Corder, 86, of Winston-Salem, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Corder was born Jan. 5, 1919, in Surry County, a son of the late Grady Corder and the late Cora Wilmoth Corder. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II. He was an aircraft repairman and overhauler with the Civil Service in Cherry Point, and retired after 28 years of service. Mr. Corder was a charter member of the United Baptist Church, where he served a head usher and as a trustee of the church. He was also a member of the Cherry Point Lodge, the North Carolina Grand York Body and the Sudan Shriner Body of New Bern. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Geneva Tyndall Corder of the home; daughter, Dolores C. Gaskins and husband, Robert, of Havelock; stepson, Tony Tyndall and wife, Teresa, of Winston-Salem; grandsons, Martin G. LaCasse, Jr. of Pennsylvania and Travis Tyndall and Andy Tyndall, both of Winston-Salem; granddaughter, Cindy L. Lanier and husband, Gunnery Sgt. James B. Lanier, of Havelock; great-granddaughter, Jacqueline Dolores Lanier of Havelock; sisters, Treva Davis and Estelle Vernon of Dobson, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 19, at United Baptist Church, with the Rev. Will Watson and the Rev. Paul Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Memorial contributions may be made to the Young at Heart Fund at United Baptist Church or the Shriners Critical Children in New Bern. The Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road is in charge of the arrangements.
