They were the parents of 6 children: Clarissa Jane, Mary E., Dianna Elizabeth, Louisa Jane, Harriet Ann and Samuel Ellsworth Valentine. Rosanna passed away on June 20, 1899, in Stoutsville, Fairfield County, and was buried on the 22nd in Maple Hill Cemetery there. Death Notice for Rosanna Myers Valentine from the Circleville Democrat & Watchman of Friday, June 23, 1899: "Mrs. Samuel K. Valentine died Tuesday morning, after a lingering illness of five or six years. The immediate cause was jaundice. She was the mother of S. E. Valentine, of Bucyrus; Mrs. Simon Shupe, of near Amanda, and Mrs. M. L. Leist, Mrs. J. J. Weimer and Mrs. E. C. Moore, of this place. Funeral Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from Reformed Church. Interment at Maple Hill Cemetery." Obituary for Rosana Myers Valentine from the Circleville Democrat & Watchman of June, 1899: "VALENTINE. Rosanna, (Meyers) wife of Samuel K. Valentine, was born May 28, 1824, and departed this life in Stoutsville, Ohio, June 20, 1899, aged 75 years and 23 days. She was born, passed her life and died in the same township and county, viz: Clearcreek Township, Fairfield County. On September 3, 1846, she was joined in marriage to Samuel K. Valentine. Seven children were born of this union, all of whom survive her excepting one son and one daughter, who died in infancy. Of the inner circle of friends who mourn her departure are found her husband, one son and four daughters, with their families. There are thirteen grandchildren of a family of seven children. She is the last to be called from earth. In infancy, she was consecrated to God in Christian baptism, Rev. Henry King, of sainted memory, officiating. When 17 or 18 years of age, she entered into full member ship with the Reformed Church, in which she continued a faithful member all her lifetime. Mother Valentine was a remarkably patient and even-tempered woman. It is testified that she never knew herself to have an enemy, and was friendly to every one. She was faithful in the performance of her church duties. When prevented from attendance upon the Communion service, she desired to participate in it and to have it administered to her at home. She was a true wife, a devoted and faithful mother, and a kind-hearted neighbor and friend. As a church and community, we mourn her separation from us. We rejoice, however, that she has given such assurance of her full salvation and glorious destiny. She has gone from service to reward, to be with Jesus--in the house of many mansions. The funeral services were held in the Frame Church, in Stoutsville, Thursday at 2 p.m., in the presence of a large assembly of relatives and friends, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. D. Neff, assisted by Rev. C. M. Reinhold. Interment took place in Maple Hill Cemetery."
