By deduction these are Francis, William, Anna, and Rosa. Since William, Anna and Rosa came to Plymouth Co., it is probably a safe assumption they are buried in this cemetery with their family. It is not clear if Francis died in Jackson or Plymouth counties since he is not listed with the family on the 1880 Census. Obituaries could not be found for these four children. ----------------------- DEATH OF A PIONEER -- Mrs. Patrick Keenan, one of the pioneer residents of Stanton township, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Crowley, in this city, on Sunday evening. Her death was due to no specific ailment. She had been ailing for some little time, owing to increasing weight of age. Always a strong, active and vigorous woman, she refused to admit to her family and friends that she was not well, and sturdily pursued her duties and household cares to the end. She was on a visit to her daughter in Le Mars when the end came. Since the death of her husband a few years ago, she made her home with her son, James Keenan, southeast of town, on the old farm in Stanton township. Mrs. Keenan was seventy-seven year old. She was born in Newery, Pennsylvania, on March 31, 1837, and was reared at that place. Her maiden name was Rose Ann Lynch. At Altoona, on February 6, 1853, she was united in marriage with Patrick Keenan. The year following the marriage Mr. and Mrs. Keenan decided to seek the path of fortune in the west, and migrated to Jackson county, Iowa, where they worked and farmed until 1873, when they came to Plymouth county and settled on a farm in Stanton, which has been the family home ever since. They prospered and raised a large family of sons and daughters, who also have prospered in their turn and raised children of their own. To Mr. and Mrs. Keenan thirteen children were born, nine of whom survive to cherish the memory of one of the best of mothers. They are: Bernard, Michael, Thomas, John and James, Mrs. James Hughes, Mrs. Thomas Gainor, Mrs. John Crowley, Mrs. Frank Dunn, all residents of Plymouth county. There are also forty-four grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Her husband was killed on October 4, 1898, in a runaway accident, while driving from Le Mars to his home. [Another paragraph of glowing tributes follows but is not transcribed here.] The funeral will be held this Tuesday morning at St. Joseph's church in Lincoln township, and her body laid to rest beside that of her husband, with whom she lived a long and happy life.
