Married to Elizabeth Crowley. ------------------------ DEATH WAS SUDDEN -- Old Resident Suffers Fatal Seizure -- Thomas Keenan, a resident of Plymouth county since boyhood, died very suddenly on Saturday evening about half past six the result of a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. Keenan was downtown and had stepped into the mayor's office for a minute or two. While there he was attacked by the seizure which proved fatal. Just as he was stricken he asked Officer Harbour, who was in the office to help him. Harbour went to his assistance and supported him as he was falling and placing him on a table. Medical assistance was hurriedly obtained but was of no avail as Mr. Keenan had passed away. Mr. Keenan suffered a stroke of a similar character about two years ago from which he recovered. Thomas Keenan was born on October 12, 1859, at Garryowen, Ia., and was 60 years of age at the time of his death. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Keenan, pioneer residents of Plymouth county and came with his parents to Le Mars in 1873. They settled in Stanton township and Thomas grew up on the farm there, attended school and worked on the place. Subsequently he engaged in farming for himself near Oyens. He was a successful farm and business man and became well off through his exertions. Five years ago he retired from farming and came to Le Mars where he bought a home and has since resided. He was united in marriage with Elizabeth Crowley on November 26, 1889, and is survived by his wife and eight children, who are Mrs. Ed Walsh, Armour, S.D., Mrs. Henry Ebright, Sioux City, Irene, Leo, Earl, Marie, Thomas and Raymond living at home. He was a member of a family of thirteen children. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Four brothers and four sisters survive him: Mrs. Mary Hughes, Mrs. Thomas Gainor, Mrs. John Crowley, Mrs. Frank Dunn, Bernard, James, John and Michael, all living in this county. Mr. Keenan was a devout member of the Catholic church and a member of Trinity Council, Knights of Columbus. Thomas Keenan was a good citizen, successful in his calling, a firm friend and good neighbor. He was a devoted son, husband and brother and enjoyed the respect of the community where he lived almost his entire life. The funeral was held this morning at St. James church in this city, Rev.
