She was born May 31, 1923 in Freedom Township to the late Otto & Margarethe (Damman) Gerken. On October 19, 1947, she married Arthur Roehl at Zion Lutheran Church, Ridgeville Corners. On October 19, 1947, she married Arthur Roehl at Zion Lutheran Church, Ridgeville Corners. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1988. Ruth was a homemaker. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ridgeville Corners and its Women of Zion. She is survived by sons, Arthur Roehl of Napoleon, Richard (Diane) Roehl of Montpelier, David Roehl of Cecil, and Terry (Sally) Roehl of Napoleon; daughters, Linda (Dan) Ludemann of Defiance, and Nancy Arps of Napoleon; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and sister, Norma (Fred) Maassel of Malinta. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Adolph & Lawrence Gerken. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ridgeville Corners with Pastor Alva Martis officiating. Interment will follow at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon and 1 hr prior to services at the church on Saturday. The family suggests memorials to the Ridgeville Fire Department or charity of the donors choice.
